Aquaculture Development Centre at Muruthawela - Hambantota

Construction work of the Muruthawela Aquaculture Development Centre was ceremonially

begun on 23 rd May 2016 by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic

Resources Development.

The objective of this project is to supply fish seed required for stocking in Southern

reservoirs in order to increase the nutrition level and rural economy by increasing the inland

and aquaculture fish production.
