Aquaculture Development Centre at Sevanapitiya

Construction work of the Polonnaruwa Aquaculture Development Centre was ceremonially begun on 1st July 2016 by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development with the participation of Chief Minister of North Central Province, Fisheries and Agriculture Minister of North Central Province.

Mr. Upali Mohotti (Attorney-at-Law) Chairman NAQDA, Director General of Mahaweli Development Authority, Mr. Nimal Chandraratne, Director General NAQDA, Officers of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, NAQDA were also present at this event.

 

The objective of this project is to supply fish seed required for stocking in North Central reservoirs in order to increase the nutrition level and rural economy by increasing the inland and aquaculture fish production.
