Aquaculture Development Centre at Udawalawe, Ratnapura

Construction work of the Udawalawe New Aquaculture Development Centre was ceremonially begun on 12^th September 2016 by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development with the participation of Hon. P. Abeynayake, Member of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.

Mr. Upali Mohotti (Attorney-at-Law) Chairman NAQDA, Mr. Nimal Chandraratne, Director General NAQDA, Officers of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, NAQDA were also present at this event.

The objective of this project is to supply fish seed required for stocking in the reservoirs in order to increase the nutrition level and rural economy by increasing the inland and aquaculture fish production.
