Establishment of Women organizations in the Jaffna and Kilinochchi Districts under the “Diyawara Liya Diriya” Programme

Establishment of Women organizations in the Jaffna and Kilinochchi Districts under the “Diyawara Liya Diriya” Programme were inaugurated on 17th February 2020 at Jaffna with the objective of empowering the fisher women by directing them for fisheries related livelihoods. The event was chaired by Hon. Douglas Devananda, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources together with Ms. P.S.M. Charles, Governor of the Northern Province, Ms. R.M.I. Ratnayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Mr. K. A. K. R. Dharmapala, State Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

Mr. Jayantha Wijeratne, Chairman NAQDA, Mr. Nimal Chandraratne, Director General NAQDA, Officers of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, NAQDA were also present at this event.
