Inauguration of the Symposium on Sustainable Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture for Food Security and Nutrition

Symposium on Sustainable Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture for Food Security and Nutrition was held on 30^th & 31^st May 2019 at National Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Training Institute (NIFATI), Vijithapura, Kalawewa. This was the first Symposium organized by National Aquaculture Development Authority of Sri Lanka.  The Inauguration ceremony was graced by Hon. Dilip Wedaarachchi, State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.  , Mr. N.P. Madawan Arachchi, Chairman NAQDA, Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, and other distinguish invitees of representing different institutions and universities were among the participants. 

The key note addresses were delivered by Prof. U.S. Amarasinghe, Senior Professor, Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, University of Kelaniya and Dr. Rohana Subasinghe, President Elect of the World Aquaculture Society Asia Pacific Chapter and Managing Director Future Fish Sri Lanka.
