Opening of Rekawa Shrimp Farm, Hambantota

Rekawa Shrimp Farm, Hambantota was ceremonially opened by Hon. Kanchana Wijesekara, State Minister of Ornamental Fish, Inland Fish & Prawn Farming, Fishery Harbour Development, Multiday Fishing Activities and Fish Exports on 25^th January 2022 with the participation of Mr. Jayantha Chandrasoma Secretary to the State Ministry of Ornamental Fish, Inland Fish & Prawn Farming, Fishery Harbour Development, Multiday Fishing Activities and Fish Exports, Mr. Jayantha Wijeratne Chairman NAQDA, Dr. J.M. Asoka, Director General NAQDA, Officers of the NAQDA and farmers.

Rekawa Shrimp Farm will operate and manage by Taprobane Seafoods (Pvt) Ltd under a public private partnership with NAQDA. This is the first modern shrimp farm established in Southern Province.
