Opening of the Sea Cucumber Hatchery Oleithuduwai - Mannar

The National Aquaculture Development Authority of Sri Lanka, widening its services to the coastal people in Northern Province, by opening a new hatchery at Oleithuduwai, Mannar. It is expected to produce 1 Mn juveniles per annum and gradually production will be intensified on the experience gain by the technical staff.

Sea Cucumber Hatchery, Oleithuduwai was ceremonially opened by Hon. Duglus Devananda, Minister of Fisheries and Hon. Kanchana Wijesekara, State Minister of Ornamental Fish, Inland Fish & Prawn Farming, Fishery Harbour Development, Multiday Fishing Activities and Fish Exports on 30^th March 2021 with the participation of Mrs. R.M.I. Ratnayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries, Members of Parliament and Local Authorities, Mr. Jayantha Chandrasoma Secretary to the State Ministry, Chairman’s of Institutions under the Ministry.

Mr. Jayantha Wijeratne Chairman NAQDA, Mr. Nimal Chandraratne, Director General NAQDA, Officers of the Ministry of Fisheries, government institutions, NAQDA were also present at this event.
