Training Workshop on Identification of Export oriented Sea Food Products from Sri Lanka

A Training Workshop on the Identification of Export-Oriented Seafood Products from Sri Lanka
was held on November 21, 2024, at NAQDA, jointly organized by FAO, the Department of
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and NAQDA.

The workshop aimed to enhance the ability of officers to accurately identify export-oriented
seafood products, particularly species that are restricted or prohibited under current regulations.
It also provided participants with in-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including
recent updates, to strengthen their capacity to enforce compliance effectively. The workshop
focused on contributing to the conservation of marine resources by preventing illegal trade and
ensuring that only legally permitted species are imported, exported, or traded.

Officers from Sri Lanka Customs, Sri Lanka Coast Guard, the Department of Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources, NARA, and NAQDA participated in the event.
