Aquaculture Development Center – Muruthawela
The Aquaculture Development Centre at Muruthawela, in Hambantota District was started its operations in 2018 and it is situated around 240 km away from Colombo near the Muruthawela reservoir. This centre covers an area of 10.2 ha.
The centre has breeding and rearing facilities for Tilapia, Indian Carps, and Chinese Carps. Details of the rearing facilities available in the Muruthawela Centre are given in the table.
