Aquaculture Development Center – New Udawalawe
The new Aquaculture Development Centre at Udawalawe, in Ratnapura District was started its operations in 2017. This establishment was funded by “Food Production National Programme” It is situated around 170 km away from Colombo near the Udawalawe reservoir. This centre covers an area of 6 ha.
The centre has breeding and rearing facilities for Indian Carps, Chinese Carps. Details of the rearing facilities available in the Udawalawe New Centre are given in the table.
