NAQDA is committed to increasing inland fish production, ensuring sustainable aquaculture, and enhancing national food security for all Sri Lankans.
Organized by Department of Animal Science in colloboration with Aqua Club - Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.
The regional "AquaLivelihood" project, aimed at empowering small-scale fish farmers and improving nutritional security in the South Asian region, was officially launched in Colombo today (05) in collaboration with the SAARC Development Fund (SDF) and national institutions of member countries. The Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources, Ramalingam Chandrasekhar, was the Chief Guest for the inaugural event.
We signed an MoU with NARA to carry out joint research activities using our Kusala Bangadeniya Marine Ornamental Fish Research and Breeding Centre.
The National Aquaculture Development Authority of Sri Lanka (NAQDA) was established under Act No. 53 of 1998 to promote sustainable aquaculture and inland fisheries development throughout the country.
NAQDA works closely with rural communities, private sector investors, and research institutions to ensure food security, environmental conservation, and economic upliftment through responsible aquaculture practices.
